Martial Eagle

Few production bluewater yachts have earned the reputation, pedigree and enduring value of the Oyster 55. Martial Eagle is an outstanding example of this iconic design.

Built in 1992 by Oyster Marine to a Holman & Pye design, this British-registered cutter-rigged yacht has been under the care of her current owner since 2006. During this ownership she has benefited from two major professional refits and continuous investment, resulting in a standard of maintenance and presentation rarely found on yachts of this age.

Designed for serious offshore cruising, the Oyster 55 combines strength, comfort and effortless passagemaking. Her moderate-draft Scheel keel, cutter rig and powerful sail plan inspire confidence in a wide range of conditions, while her proven deck layout allows comfortable short-handed sailing as readily as extended ocean passages.

Below deck, Martial Eagle offers the warm, welcoming atmosphere for which Oyster yachts are renowned. Rich teak joinery, abundant natural light and panoramic deck saloon windows create a bright and inviting living space. Accommodation comprises four cabins with berths for seven, including a generous aft owner's suite and comfortable guest cabins, making her equally suited to family cruising or extended voyages with friends and guests aboard.

The interior has been comprehensively refurbished while carefully preserving the yacht's original Oyster character. Professionally restored and re-varnished teak joinery is complemented by new upholstery, refurbished mattresses, fitted carpets, Corian worktops, modernised bathrooms and a redesigned galley featuring twin stainless-steel refrigerators, new sinks, mixer taps and improved storage solutions.

On deck, Martial Eagle presents beautifully. The teak decks were completely replaced in 2021, the hull was professionally refinished in Awlgrip Flag Blue, and the original mast and boom were fully refurbished and resprayed. Standing rigging has been professionally inspected and serviced, running rigging renewed, and numerous structural, mechanical and cosmetic improvements completed to ensure the yacht remains in outstanding condition.

Exceptionally well equipped for independent bluewater cruising, she features a generator, bow thruster, Victron electrical system, air conditioning with integrated diesel heating, electric furling systems, electric winches, a comprehensive Raymarine navigation suite and an extensive inventory of carefully considered cruising equipment.

Throughout almost two decades of ownership, the philosophy has never been to postpone maintenance, but to invest continuously in the yacht's long-term reliability, safety and condition. Rather than simply replacing components when necessary, many original Oyster features have been professionally refurbished and upgraded, preserving both the quality and character of the yacht while bringing her systems up to modern standards.

Martial Eagle represents a rare opportunity to acquire an exceptionally well-maintained Oyster 55 that has benefited from continuous professional investment and thoughtful modernisation. Combining classic Oyster craftsmanship with proven offshore capability and meticulous care, she is fully prepared for her next owner—whether the dream is Mediterranean cruising, Atlantic crossings or a circumnavigation.

She is not simply another Oyster 55.

She is an Oyster 55 that is ready for her next owner—and her next ocean.
